MONTGOMERY COUNTY EMERGENCY SERVICES DISTRICT NO. 10
AND THE MAGNOLIA VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT
Montgomery County Emergency Services District No. (“MCESD No. 10”) is seeking a qualified candidate to fill the position of Office Clerk of the Magnolia Volunteer Fire Department ("MVFD") and the MCESD No. 10.
JOB SUMMARY: The Magnolia Volunteer Fire Department operates with a high degree of public trust. The successful candidate shall be expected to maintain that high degree of public trust at all times. The Office Clerk performs clerical tasks and assists the office administrator with duties that are moderately complex. The ideal candidate must be able to operate with minimal supervision and, at times, exercise independent judgment in completing assignments. Attention to detail is required. The applicant must have excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as computer, organization and customer service skills. The Office Clerk shall assist the Office Administrators who are responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Magnolia Volunteer Fire Department Administration Office and the office of the MCESD No. 10.
Assist in the preparation of reports as requested by the Fire Chief, Office Manager, the MVFD Executive Board, and ESD 10 Board.
Assist with the preparation and delivery of requests for payment of invoices.
File maintenance and assist with the management of routing phone calls, mail, and packages to appropriate office staff.
Assist with timekeeping duties and files.
Assist in preparation and delivery of Public Education Materials.
Assist Command Staff and any other duties as assigned by Supervisor or the Fire Chief.
Possess the ability and skill to work under limited supervision.
Ability to organize and prioritize work within the department.
Above average word processing and computer skills and operate an electronic data processing computer; word processing and data entry.
Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
Oral and written communication skills necessary for accurate documentation of various required reports/ communicating with the department.
Ability to maintain confidentiality with information received and learned during the course of the job.
Ability to carry out assigned projects to their completion.
Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and meet deadlines.
Ability to work under stress and handle stressful situations.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: A high school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED) is required. The preferred candidate should have a minimum of 1 year experience in a clerical position. A working knowledge of the Fire Service is desirable, but not required.
THE APPLICANT SHOULD HAVE:
Above average working knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, Outlook, Publisher, and PowerPoint.
Working knowledge of effective clerical and customer service skills.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work in a team environment.
Ability to use personal computers and job related office equipment.
Capability to organize and perform clerical duties in a manner conducive to effective performance.
Ability to identify problems within the office environment and recommend the appropriate solution.
Must be able to be bonded.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS: This is an hourly position, paid bi-weekly. Overtime will be paid at a rate of time and one-half for any hours in addition to the standard 40 hour work week. Work schedule will be assigned by the Fire Chief. There are 10 paid holidays annually per the MCESD No. 10 policy.
Salary range: $15.00 - $17.00 Per Hour, Commensurate with experience
